On the site, you get to choose different age ranges - the projects are really friendly for all ages though. I felt that the 16-year-old range projects are also pretty good for those who are also 6. The instructions are easy to understand and the pictures are also very clear and vivid. 

Everything is pretty much self contained. For this project, all i needed were a pair of pliers, but it wasnt neccessary. With your order, you can add an option fun encyclopedia to the mix also. In my case, i got a fun book about PHYSICS! but the default package already comes with a learning book relevant to the projectm which in this case, is the spinning science booklet.
